Jeff Kaplan has been quite active recently on the official forums, and two new pieces of information have been revealed regarding changes to Overwatch 2. For starters, Kaplan weighed in on the problems associated with capture point maps that only have two capture points. He did not get into too much detail, but what was clear was that any changes come from the need to balance the mode for professional play, competitive play, and casual play.
The second comment is far less interesting, but gathered considerable response online, and that is the possible changes to how Overwatch levels look with user borders, especially on an account when hitting gold. Kaplan states, “We’ll find a way to recognize your accomplishments for those who care but the current plan is for those borders to go away and be replaced with a different system.”
In esports, the Week 12 bans have already been decided, with Echo, Tracer, Orisa, and Moira sitting out this week’s competitive games.
In related news, the ESPN Esports Valorant Invitational will be taking place from April 20-22, featuring players from various shooters, including Overwatch, and also games like Apex Legends, PUBG, CS:GO, Fortnite, and more.
Finally, Week 12 has not yet had its scheduled finalized for competitive play, but readers can check out the official schedule here for updates as they happen.
