This week Niantic updated monster hit Pokémon GO with Remote Raids. Much like a normal raid that required participants to all be within spitting distance of each other, Remote Raids now encourage people anywhere to team-up against challenging and powerful Pokémon - no masks and social distancing required. Currently a trainer Level 32 or higher is required to initiate the invitation to a raid.
Team GO Rocket calls in reinforcements! Ash Ketchum’s long-time rivals Jessie and James might be seen cruising around your app map in a Meowth-themed balloon. Tapping the balloon starts an encounter against the double-trouble duo. If you find the battle too difficult there are hundreds of guides online to help you out. Also check the in-app store for Jessie and James themed paraphernalia. There is some fun stuff in there. The window of time to find the Pokénappers is unknown - but they are out there right now, so don’t delay.
The first virtual Pokémon GO Fest takes place this weekend! Wherever you are you can participate in exclusive events and and a Special Research quest. There is even a super-secret-you’ll-never-guess-who pokémon expected to make an appearance during the event (hint: it’s Victini. Which is awesome).
There will be plenty of poké-goodness for everyone, free and paid players alike. Increased spawn rates, rarer pokémon will be seen in wild more than usual, “biodomes” will feature a bigger variety of types - let’s hope for a swarm of Gibles! However, some events will be exclusive to Go Fest ticket holders.
A $14.99 ticket unlocks a Special Research quest, and a Global Challenge Arena, among other exclusive festivities. The purchase can be made via the in-app store, but note that you cannot pay with Pokécoins.
The Day 1 will see a cycle of five habitats, Fire, Water, Grass, Battle, and Friendship, rotating every hour during the day. Ticket holders will have their Special Research quest and Global Challenge Arena to play with.
The Day 2 events are still a mystery, but rumors sound like it could be a lot of fun. Many fan sites are hopping with speculation on the Fest endgame. Like eager masters chasing that most elusive poképal, dataminers scour code for evidence of the Fest’s ultimate prize. A new shiny pokémon? A shadow pokémon? A mega pokémon? A mythic pokémon??
Then celebrate your success with some cool Pokémon papercraft! Find this fun Pokémon GO Fest webpage (no need to search the bushes - just click on this cheat code) and discover the files to assemble some neat things like party decorations, hats, a “gift” that looks identical to the package in the game, and, of course, the ubiquitous Poké Ball! Files for both A4 and 8”x11” paper are provided.
