This week’s news is centered mostly around damage control with regards to the relationship between Ubisoft and the professional esports players of Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six Siege. In a recent interview, the developers stated, “So, if professional players are not happy with our proposed features, then that means we are going in the right direction.”

This was interpreted in different ways by some players, and the developers needed to expand on this to clarify that a major part of their work in balancing the game is to push players to be better by challenging everyone, including professional players, out of their comfort zones. The goal is to consider all players, and not only the top levels of esports.

The developers go on to describe how many changes made to the game come from the data available to Ubisoft that is a more accurate representation of the game. Overall, the developers conclude that they will work towards improving communication with players to avoid the kinds of fallout experienced when professional players feel as though they are being blindsided by a major change that affects their core gameplay.

Apart from that, players can catch a number of esports matches in the coming days with Black Dragons taking on MIBR, and Team Singularity competing against Ninjas in Pyjamas, both on April 10.
