Riot Games is stepping up its esports presence for its popular auto battler with the Teamfight Tactics: Galaxies Championship. In a recent blogpost, the developers described it to be the place where the highest levels of play will unfold and feature competitors from all over the world with a $200,000 prize pool on the line.

Details are still coming. Timing has not yet been specified other than this will take place at the end of the set with more information coming later in the summer. Players will quality through a region-specific system of ladders and tournaments.

Starting in the first week of May and the last week of July, Riot will take weekly snapshots of ladder rankings with players earning points based on rank. The top 10 earners across twelve weeks will earn their seat at a final event per region.

Patch 10.8 is also set to release on April 15, featuring champion buffs, a nerf to Cybernetic origin, and Xerath, a brand-new Dark Star Sorcerer Champion. This new champion will likely cost five in the shop and will predominantly feature the use of an ability called Abysmal Bombardment, and we hope this brings a new dynamic to the meta.
