This week in World of Warcraft is sure to be busy for players and dataminers alike, as Blizzard announced that the Alpha phase will begin shortly for the upcoming Shadowlands expansion. Select players will have the opportunity to test out what lies ahead and report their opinions back to the developers, of which bug reports will be most important.
As with every expansion, the first batch of invites will be small, and mainly go towards long-time players, Blizzard friends and family, and a limited number of content creators and journalists. As time goes on, these invites will be expanded, and players can use the Beta Opt-in link to try and secure their own spots.
This is certainly an exciting time for players, and it will be fascinating to see what changes lie ahead. Since the expansion was first announced Blizzard described big changes for Spellbooks, Talents, and for some classes even extending to resources. There will also be improvements to the quest interface and PVP currencies. As the Alpha opens, we will surely get more news of what this looks like in practice.
Finally, players who have been experiencing longer-than-usual queue times in World of Warcraft: Classic should find some relief soon. Several players have complained of the long waits, and the developers have responded that they are testing several solutions which will be rolled out in the coming days.
