One of the first videos to do this trend comes from TikTok user stfusamantha, who says that anyone seeing the video has been “chosen” and that they should remember August 27th because it’s important. In the comment section of the video, though, stfusamantha explains that she just wanted to make a weird video and was surprised to see it go viral. As pointed out by New York Times reporter Taylor Lorenz, it’s possible that other creators were doing the trend before stfusamantha, but her video does seem to be one of the first ones to blow up on the platform.
