TinyBuild has purchased the developer of its highest-rated game. DogHelm’s Matt Dabrowski has joined TinyBuild after selling DogHelm for $6.5 million. This means that the Streets of Rogue sequel will be made entirely in-house at TinyBuild.

Streets of Rogue originally released back in 2019 and quickly became an indie darling. As the Steam description reads, “It’s like Nuclear Throne meets Deus Ex, mixed with the anarchy of GTA.” Players proceed through randomly generated cities by accomplishing missions using whatever they have available. After death, players purchase new gadgets and abilities using the in-game currency of chicken nuggets.

And it gets crazier from there. There are 24 playable classes, including a bartender, cop, werewolf, zombie, and mecha pilot, each with their own stats, starting equipment, and special abilities. Streets of Rogue currently has a 96% rating on Steam–among one of the highest on the platform and the highest-rated game in TinyBuild’s portfolio.

DogHelm is now the fourth developer acquired by TinyBuild since February’s wave of acquisitions, which included Totally Reliable Delivery Service maker We’re Five Games, Black Skylands developer Hungry Couch, and Cartel Tycoon creator Moon Moose. It’s also the first since TinyBuild’s initial public offering on the London Stock Exchange, which came in March at a cool $480 million.

“We are delighted to announce the first deal following our successful listing on AIM earlier this year,” said TinyBuild CEO Alex Nichiporchik. “As a public company we have an even more powerful platform from which we can deliver on our organic and M&A growth ambitions.”

There’s no word on when Streets of Rogue 2 might come out, but development has at least started according to TinyBuild.
