Trifox is a cute game from Glowfish Interactive about a Fox that has plenty of talent and abilities. You have the choice of three different warrior builds, or you can mix and match all the abilities, giving you control over the hero you want to create.
In Trifox, enemies have broken into your home and stolen your TV remote. It is then up to you to battle your way through different levels, and complete different puzzles to get your Remote back. This game is also filled with creative enemies and lots of collectibles, hidden and findable. If you are looking for tips to help begin your playthrough, read on!
Make Sure To Break Open Pots, Crates, And Chests
In most platformers, you can find all sorts by breaking up the local crates and pots. The same goes for this title. When playing the game, you will need to get as many coins as you can, this is so you can unlock new abilities for you to use.
To get coins, you can open chests that are hidden around the map, or break crates and pots, which also contain Health pots. Crates and pots give you a few coins, but the big money is in the treasure chests. Inside these, you can get two kinds of health pots: a little vial that does a small amount of health, or a bigger pot that heal all your life.
Stun Or Let Enemies Get Dizzy
Depending on your weapon and abilities, you can stun enemies when fighting them. This is great for large numbers of them and for when you are getting overwhelmed. For example, if you have the big hammer as your weapon, you can get an ability that pounds the ground and does an AOE stun on enemies.
There are some enemies as well that can stun themselves by getting dizzy. If left to spin themselves out, the spinning enemies with knives will become dizzy and stunned for a moment. So it is best to avoid them or damage from afar if you can, then when they are in this status you can do big damage up close.
Pay Attention When Doing Puzzles
While playing the game there will be different puzzles for you to complete. Some puzzles will be just to get to the next part of the level or unlock a door. However, there are puzzles that have two uses, one to open a different area that will have chests and crates to break open, and the other to get to the next level. So you need to make sure you are paying attention when doing a puzzle, like putting the balls on the right podiums. Because you may miss out on some extra coins to help your next unlock.
Utilise Your Abilities
This might sound silly, but you need to remember to use your abilities. It can be easy to just go into battle using your weapon only, but you have other abilities to help turn the tide in your favor. If you have mines and turrets unlocked, for example, make sure to put them down to help keep enemies off you.
Abilities are there to help you out of sticky situations. If you are looking to go for a more defensive approach then you should look to unlock the Barrier and Shield abilities. These will allow you to block incoming attacks and help you to get out of situations where you are overwhelmed.
Bear in mind, however, that you require stamina to use abilities, which is the Blue bar next to your health. This will refill over time, or you can collect blue vials dropped from enemies or crates to refill it.
Make Sure You Are Prepared When Pulling Levers
Going through the levels, you will need to open up the pathways using levers and by completing puzzles. However, some levers, when pulled, will start an enemy wave, so before you do that, it is best to make sure you are ready to engage the enemy.
You need to make sure your health is topped up, and you can place down some defences like turrets or barriers. This will help to make sure you can cope with the onslaught of enemies. Not all levers will cause a wave of enemies but just prepare in case.
Make Use Of The Loadout Room
Between levels, you can enter the loadout room, purchase new abilities, and change what you have equipped. Try each different weapon and ability, so you can find out which suits you best, creating your perfect loadout.
You won’t know what is coming in the next level but if you are struggling to complete it with your current loadout, quitting the level and changing your loadout could really help you to get through the game on tougher stages.
Movement In Trifox Is Key
When playing Trifox, you need to keep moving all the time when fighting. If you stay still then you will be overwhelmed pretty quickly. Especially from enemies that throw bombs or fire weapons as this makes it easier for them to hit you.
When fighting bosses it is also best to keep moving, as they tend to adapt to what you are doing, so if you are in close they will melee you. Then should you move far they will do a ranged attack. If you keep moving and jumping, it will make it harder for them to hit you, and then you can go in for a closer attack.
As well as jumping and running while attacking to stay on the move, you should use your dash ability that will help you dodge attacks and help to make you harder to hit.
