One of Japan’s many themed cafes will let you eat a menu full of Nintendo’s lovable pink ball Kirby’s friends without feeling guilty.
Located near the Tokyo Skytree within the Hachiko District’s Solamachi entertainment complex, the Kirby Cafe has been in business since 2018 and was designed to be set within the Whispy Woods. All dishes are reasonably priced for locals and tourists with most main dishes coming in at around 1,600 yen (approximately $15) with the most expensive dish, the Whispy Woods Sweet Plate, coming in at 2,580 yen (about $24). The dessert plate features a half-dozen different treats to indulge in after a savory feast.
The cafe comes complete with Kirby cutlery if you don’t feel overwhelmed enough by the pink ball’s presence and features various Kirby art decorating the walls with plushies scattered on various tables. Kirby’s Cafe features a dozen dishes all inspired by Nintendo’s pink character including classics like the Kirby Burger or the Kirby Bacon dish. Whispy Woods Curry is infused with coffee and the Whispy Woods tree dish comes with 3 compartments that each hold a different piece to the dish.
The Japanese Omelet Rice features a sleeping Waddle Dee. That may sound quite barbaric to eat, but it does seems to be the customers’ favorite. The Caprese Salad is encouraged to be eaten fast as a porcelain figure of Kirby is sitting at the edge of the place attempting to inhale all of your food. Chef Kawasaki’s Hamburger Steak is served with a Cheese Fondue and Kirby’s Pasta and Cheese Toast sits in a Kirby bowl that requires you to lift off his head to tuck in.The signature dish is Kirby’s Inhaling Hot Dog with Warp Star Hash Browns where the Hot Dog sits in Kirby’s wide-open mouth.
There is also a Maxim Tomato dish if you’re low on energy that features tomato sorbet (which may be good for a hangover) that is very refreshing. Kirby’s Strawberry Mousse is pink and voluptuous just like the video game character and the Invincibility Candy Parfait features Zero, the final boss in Kirby’s Dream Land 3.
Customers can then quench their thirst with a Blue Heart Cocktail lined with gold stars or Kirby’s Butt Latte that features the titular character within marshmallow art showing his rear-end on top of your pick-me-up. You can also ask for other designs to decorate the top of your super creamy caffeine fix with something like Waddle Dee art.
