Anticipation for Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 1+2 Remastered is building, and fans have been eagerly awaiting news about how the new game will improve on the originals that were released twenty years ago. Fans are not only looking forward to the remastered Pro Skater games because of the seamless skating mechanics, but there is also a great deal of nostalgia for the original soundtrack. However, it also appears as though the new game will bring some additional music to the table.
The Tony Hawks Pro Skater franchise was a huge success when it was originally released and it helped spawn the skating game genre. As with any genre of gaming, there is a lifespan to its popularity before it becomes unappealing. The Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater franchise eventually struggled to reinvent itself in a saturated skating market. However, there are still dedicated fans and they will be pleased by the billing for the soundtrack of the remastered titles.
The soundtrack has been confirmed by a poster and Tweet from the official game account. The likes of Anthrax, Rage Against The Machine, Powerman 5000, and Papa Roach will all be returning to Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 1+2. There will also be some new artists who will be introduced, including grime artist Skepta, punk rock band FIDLAR, and rock band Billy Talent. It seems that the soundtrack will appeal to a new audience while artists like Bad Religion and Suicidal Tendencies will undoubtedly please players who originally picked up the game in the late 90s and early 00s.
Some fans will be relieved by this soundtrack, as there had been rumors of classic Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater songs not appearing in the remaster. However, it seems that the vast majority of memorable songs will appear in the playlist for the game. With classic songs and some fresh content, it appears that the remastered game will be able to tempt many players. Although others would likely want to experience the gameplay before they decide on the title.
Players will be able to play a demo of the Warehouse level from Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater in mid-August and this will be the final test for many consumers. If the game can deliver the same satisfying skating experience as the older titles alongside a compelling soundtrack, the remaster will likely be a hit.
Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 1+2 Remastered is set to drop on PC, PS4, and Xbox One on September 4.
