The impending release of the Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 1+2 remastered collection has fans of the classic extreme sports franchise more excited than ever. Thus the timing could not be any more perfect for the wide release of Pretending I’m a Superman: The Tony Hawk Video Game Story, a documentary based on the development of the original Pro Skater games that will officially be available through video on demand and streaming on August 18, 2020.

The title of the documentary is a reference to Goldfinger’s “Superman,” a song on the original Pro Skater’s soundtrack. Its soundtrack is as iconic as the game itself, but in the lead-up to the remaster’s release fans have petitioned to keep Trapt’s “Headstrong” off of the upcoming title.

The resurgence of Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater is only one piece in an overall trend toward the return of the extreme sports skateboarding genre in recent months. At EA Play 2020, Electronic Arts announced Skate 4 is in development, which is one of its most-requested games of the last decade.

Pretending I’m a Superman: The Tony Hawk Video Game Story will be available August 18 through VOD and streaming.
