The strategy game Total War: Three Kingdoms is a complex exploration of warfare, politics, and tactics. There are a lot of moving parts to this game that requires the player to operate well on the turn-based macro level and lead decisively on the real-time micro level.

As a result there are some aspects of the game that certain players will find annoying or frequently struggle with. This leads to the existence of mods that can dramatically influence these parts of the game to the point they might as well be cheats.

10 Gift From Heaven

The Gift From Heaven mod causes the player to receive all unique weapons, armors, mounts, followers, and accessories at the earliest turn possible. This is a tremendous gift that gives the player unimaginable power right at the beginning of the game.

Granted it’s not a guarantee the player will win as they’ll still need to utilize this gift strategically to take advantage of this edge. But there’s no denying that the early part of the game becomes vastly easier and removes a lot of RNG and grinding over the course of the campaign.

9 Generals Can’t Die Of Old Age

Few things are as frustrating as recruiting a powerful general and training them up to high ranks only for that general to die of old age later in the game. This can often come at the worst times strategically and seriously handicap the players war efforts.

To combat this the mod Generals Can’t Die Of Old Age does what it says on the tin, sort of. In reality the generals are guaranteed to reach the age of 100 and will then die of a “sickness”. It doesn’t eliminate the problem, but having all generals reach 100 make it easier to prepare for their demise and get more mileage out of them.

8 Guaranteed Capture For Generals

A great way to acquire new generals is to capture them after a victorious battle. But even under ideal circumstances with the right skills this is still subject to a lot of chance. It can be really frustrating to pin down a general who would be perfect for future conquests only to have them die to the player’s soldiers.

The mod Guaranteed Capture For Generals introduces the ability for players to have a 100% chance of capture. Granted it’s a very situational benefit and the general captured isn’t a walking demi-god. But it does make this aspect of the game a lot less annoying.

7 Double XP

Experience is a valuable commodity to the player’s generals and troops. A high ranking general has access to unique and powerful warriors and an experienced troop is a force to be reckoned with in real-time battle.

The mod Double XP causes all activities that a general or troop can receive experience from to be doubled. It doesn’t sound like much but having troops and generals level up at twice the rate, across the entire army, can give the player very serious power very quickly.

6 General Satisfaction

A common annoyance for players is to have general at odds with each other. Sometimes it can lead to helpful rivalries that inspire the other to go above and beyond to one up the other, but it can often lead to conflict and low morale.

Instead of having to strategically shuffle generals around to avoid animosity players can install the General Satisfaction mod. The mod will entirely do away with this tedious mechanic and all generals will get along leading to more Berserk events occurring should their friend fall in battle.

5 No More Character Demands

Another aspect of the game that can lead to conflict and low morale are the character’s demanding recognition of their abilities. Ambitious characters, which is basically everyone, will often want to climb the ladder to loft court positions.

Rather than suffering the growing bitterness or being forced to boot them out of the empire entirely, players can install No More Character Demands. This mod will remove any and all ambition with each character being content wherever the player decides to place them in the hierarchy.

4 No Building Requirements On Tech Tree

The No Building Requirements On Tech Tree is an incredibly overpowered mod right from the get go. Players now have access to the entire tech tree without having to wait several turns for buildings to be constructed or resources for those buildings to be amassed.

As with many of these mods it’s not a guarantee of victory. But the player has a significant edge in the technological arms race when they don’t have to go through the tedium of getting the buildings up first.

3 More Skill Points On Level Up

Having a general level up is an exciting time for a general. It can lead to better troops, unlocks a number of powerful skills, and makes them mighty leaders on the battlefield. In fact, a highly skilled general can often grab victory from the jaws of defeat.

The mod More Skill Points On Level Up will give generals extra skill points whenever they level. The only catch is that the mod doesn’t always work with every general. The creator of the mod isn’t sure why and can’t identify which generals this will be the case for. But even having one general access more skills than usual makes this a mere inconvenience.

2 Increased Chance Of Childbirth

Establishing a steady and consistent bloodline is important for the longevity of the player’s empire. Ensuring that the ruler of the throne has an heir, especially a male heir, was crucial historically and plays out the same way in this game. Which makes the random chance of a male child being born a bit frustrating.

Increased Chance Of Childbirth is a mod that gives the player control over the this process. It enables a setting for childbirth to have a 25%, 50%, 75%, or even 100% guarantee of happening. There’s also a toggle that ensures the child born will be male, ensuring the security of the throne.

1 All Units For All Factions

One of the more powerful mods on this list is All Units For All Factions. This means a player will have access to any units they want regardless of who they’re playing as. The strategic advantage of this is absurd as the player can mix and match the best warriors from all factions into one hybrid force.

The only drawback to this mod is that it doesn’t work for yellow turbans. But for any and all other factions the player can create a veritable melting pot of warriors that all lend their specialties to a single banner.
