The next group of Mii Fighter DLC costumes for Super Smash Bros. Ultimate have been announced and they’re adding some popular characters, with Bomberman and Travis Touchdown from No More Heroes coming to the game.

Bomberman is already in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate as an Assist Trophy, which was seen as the right choice by many fans, as his bomb-based moveset would be extremely limited for a full fighter. Travis Touchdown has been a strong contender for a Super Smash Bros. Ultimate DLC character for a while now, especially as No More Heroes 3 is a Switch exclusive, and Nintendo would want to promote the game.

Masahiro Sakurai has hosted a Super Smash Bros Ultimate Direct to showcase Steve from Minecraft’s combat abilities. The Direct also had announcements regarding upcoming amiibo figures and other updates for the game. Sakurai announced six more Mii Fighter costumes that are coming to Super Smash Bros. Ultimate as DLC, with Bomberman and Travis Touchdown being the most notable.

The six costumes are the Creeper (Brawler), Pig (Brawler), and Diamond Armor (Swordfighter) from Minecraft, Gil (Swordfighter) from Tower of Druaga, Bomberman (Brawler) from the Bomberman series, and Travis Touchdown (Swordfighter) from No More Heroes. The costumes will be released on October 13 and will cost $0.75 each.

The fact that Travis Touchdown is coming to Super Smash Bros. Ultimate as a Mii Fighter costume seems to confirm that he won’t become a playable fighter in the game. It’s possible that we might have reached the point where there are too many sword fighters in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate. Travis Touchdown might use a cool sword that resembles a lightsaber, but there isn’t much the developers could do with his fighting style that hasn’t already been done by the Fire Emblem characters. It’s also a shame that there are no new music tracks being added alongside any of the DLC characters, as Super Smash Bros. Ultimate fans are willing to pay extra for new songs, especially now that the Battlefields/Final Destination can play any track in the game.

The next batch of Mii Fighter costumes will be added to Super Smash Bros. Ultimate on October 13, 2020.
