We’d understand if Spiritomb isn’t exactly your favorite Ghost/Dark-type Pokemon. Essentially just a spirit affixed to a rock (actually 108 spirits trapped in the “odd keystone,” whatever that is), Spiritomb is mostly helpless. It has virtually no HP and is basically immobile since it’s attached to a boulder.
Which is hilariously represented in Pokemon Sword & Shield: The Crown Tundra if you take your Spiritomb out for walkies.
Reddit user Quinndalin66 posted this video to show us all how adorable Spiritomb can be when you let it out of its Pokeball. It tries to follow you, it really does! You can see all that effort it puts into every desperate lunge forward, like a disabled dog that can’t use its back legs but it still loves its owner so very very much.
If Spiritomb had a tongue or a tail, both would be wagging.
It’s so cute that it’s gotten me thinking how you can make a largely stationary object like Spiritomb into a viable companion. You’ll definitely want to have Spiritomb use Sucker Punch as much as possible to make up for its terrible speed, and Will-o-Wisp to chew through tougher targets. You can also do a Rest/Sleep Talk/Leftovers combo if you prefer to just throw out a sleepy Spiritomb and watch it accidentally win-out over competitors, which is kinda funny too.
If you haven’t already caught a Spiritomb, head to Dyna Tree Hill, the same spot where you found the Galarian Legendary Birds. Then from there, toddle on over to Ballimere Lake and find a tombstone underneath a tree. There, you can talk to the tombstone where it’ll tell you to “spread my voice,” which means talk to at least 32 other trainers in Crown Tundra’s open-world area.
After you do that, head back to the tombstone and prepare to fight a level 72 Spiritomb.
