Twitch now has a category for real sports leagues and is relaunching the TwitchSports channel.

Real-life sports has kinda taken a second seat to video gaming for the first time ever thanks to coronavirus. And it’s now looking like major sports leagues are finally seeing the writing on the wall when it comes to in-person sporting events. They’re looking to get into streaming quickly, and Twitch is all too happy to be their platform.

Twitch just announced today that they’re creating an all-new category in their directory: Sports. It’ll host content from streamers looking to talk about sports, leagues looking to broadcast their games, and anything else having to do with real-life sporting stuff. Big leagues like the NBA, MLS, and UFC already have official channels that you can follow in this new directory.

Additionally, Twitch is also re-launching the TwitchSports channel which will feature regular content from the best of the best in sports. This includes interactive content from the biggest teams in soccer like Arsenal and Real Madrid, as well as streams from real pro-athletes.

They’re kicking off the channel’s relaunch today with a livestream hosted by Major League Soccer star Jimmy Conrad and will include interactive content from Arsenal, the NBA, and the UFC. Expect AMAs, polls, trivia, and just general Twitch chat shenanigans.
