Twitch Prime is going back in time with its free games for April by offering Turok: Dinosaur Hunter.
It’s April, and as the coronavirus pandemic continues and social distancing remains the norm, we could all use a free video game or three, right? Well, Twitch Prime delivers with a couple of freebies for April, including an old classic in Turok: Dinosaur Hunter.
But this isn’t just the original N64 game we’re talking about. This is the remastered version from Nightdive Studios, updated to perform on modern hardware and take advantage of all the advancements made in PC gaming since 1997. This includes rebindable controls, updated graphics with a vastly longer draw distance, better textures, dynamic lighting, bloom, FXAA, enhanced water effects, light shafts, and more.
Did we mention widescreen support and 1080p resolution? Because we should have. And also Steam achievements, because we’re sure you’re into that too.
Nightdive does some incredible work and they’ve made it their mission to keep old classics alive thanks to their proprietary KEX emulation engine. They even like to bring back niche games like Blade Runner and SiN.
Besides Turok, you’ve got four more free games thanks to Twitch Prime, including Etherborn, Light Matter, Eathlock, and Kathy Rain. The first two are adventure puzzle games, while Earthlock is a love letter to ‘90s-era JRPGs. Kathy Rain is a classic point-and-click adventure game, so if you’re looking to go even more retro than Turok, then Kathy Rain is the game for you.
And of course, Twitch Prime continues to offer free loot for a whole bunch of games, including DOOM Eternal, Destiny 2, Borderlands 3, Apex Legends, League of Legends, Teamfight Tactics, and many, many more. DOOM fans will be especially excited to receive the DOOMicorn skin, which turns the Doom Slayer into a magical fairy unicorn that occasionally splatters demon guts over his pristine white feathers.
Destiny 2 fans will get a few free exotics, Borderlands 3 players will get a unique gun and a few golden keys, while Apex fans will get Mirage’s Lucky Charmer skin in honor of the recently skipped St. Patrick’s Day.
