It’s tough being a woman on Twitch. Male streamers don’t have to put up with constant harassment to the point where Twitch has to hire a law firm just to keep a handle on all the abuse. And if you’re trans? Well, just listen to Twitch partner Nikatine on why the platform really needs a “trans” tag.
One of the problems with being a woman on Twitch was just made clear by streamer QTCinderella. She recently explained how much cash she spends scouring the internet for lewdly edited photos of herself, and it’s a lot.
“So I’m sad that the jerk-offers ruined my life,” QTCinderella said. “I’ve talked about this before–being a woman on the internet is so f—ed up. I literally pay $2500 a month–a month chat! You saw how much ad revenue I make, I don’t even make that in ads. I have to pay $2500 a month just to get jerk-offer photos deleted off of Tumblr.”
Do the math and that’s $30,000 per year, or basically the price of a brand new car. Every year. The worst part, she explained, is that it’s not even particularly attractive photos that are getting sexualized. “Like, I was just getting cookies out of the oven!" QTCinderella asked her followers. “Why are you like that?!”
Although the price she pays is astounding, it’s no surprise that QTCinderella is against her photos being turned into spank material without her consent. She was a particularly vocal opponent of Twitch’s Hot Tub Meta, which only recently came to its thrilling conclusion when the platform banned any mention of the words “hot tub” in its official channel. Twitch also demonetized popular streamer Kaitlyn “Amouranth” Siragusa’s videos for her frequent appearances in a hot tub.
