Those with a penchant for classic handheld systems will be happy to know that SNK isn’t stopping with its Neo Geo Pocket ports. After the rather successful SNK Gals’ Fighter in May, the Japanese developer is ready to bring The King of Fighters R-2 and Samurai Shodown! 2 over to the Switch eShop.
The company is so ready, in fact, that both titles will be available tomorrow. Much like with the last go-around, you’ll be able to grab both games for $7.99 apiece. That might be a little expensive for such antiquated titles, but then there’s the preservation angle that I’m very fond of. Also, Gals’ Fighter was an excellent port, so you can’t knock that.
Interestingly, Samurai Shodown! 2 was previously available as a pre-order bonus for the Switch port of 2019’s Samurai Shodown reboot. Some gamers may already have the game on their consoles and won’t need to shell out any extra money to get this belated release.
If you don’t fall into that camp, then be on the lookout for both of these titles tomorrow. SNK hasn’t confirmed if more Neo Geo Pocket games will make the jump, but it does seem likely. Switch is also the perfect platform for them, what with its portability factor.
