It’s been roughly a year since hints and rumors began to circulate about a third Watch Dogs title, but publisher Ubisoft remained tight-lipped about the whole thing. However, that seems to have changed following a few recent leaks about the title, especially a major one that revealed a tonne of info about the game that came only yesterday. With all this supposedly official information already out, Ubisoft seems to have just embraced it and officially confirmed Watch Dogs Legion via their Twitter account.

The Tweet still doesn’t show a lot, with only a brief video displaying some sort of logo, accompanied by the phrase “God Save the NPCs.” This phrase does seem to corroborate at least some of the info that was recently leaked; specifically that the game will be set in England, as it’s a riff on the idiom “God Save the Queen.” The fact that it also highlights NPCs suggests that the rumor that players can take control of any NPC (which ironically doesn’t make them NPCs if you think about it) is true as well, though this is something that still needs proper clarification from Ubisoft themselves.

We won’t have to wait long to see if what the leak said holds water, as the Tweet also confirms that the main reveal will happen at E3 next week. Ubisoft’s conference will be taking place on Monday June 10th at 1pm PT, though as it stands, the only confirmed title to be appearing then will be Watch Dogs Legion. It’s currently unknown what else will be shown off, though there have, of course, been rumors of announcements like a new sports title.

Funnily enough, this wasn’t the only Ubisoft game to have seemingly been leaked recently. Only a couple of days ago, the retailer GameStop put up and then quickly took down a listing for replica Sam Fisher goggles - Sam Fisher being the protagonist of the Splinter Cell series - which seems to suggest that a new entry is also in the works and could potentially be announced at E3.

Watch Dogs Legion currently has no release date or confirmed platforms.
