Kimmy overcame a lot in the Unbreakable Netflix series, emerging from a bunker hostage situation straight to the mean streets of NY. Despite the bleak premise, this show was an endless barrage of over the top bubbly feel-good humor. By the looks of things, the comedic rays of sunshine will continue to blare down on an ever-morbid plotline in Kimmy’s culminating- and now interactive - adventure.

In Kimmy VS. The Reverend Kimmy Schmidt tackles an altogether new challenge; planning her wedding. And to a Prince (Daniel Radcliffe) no less. But before she can tie the knot, she’s got one more showdown with her former captor, Reverend Dick Wayne (John Hamm). It turns out, the Rev has a second bunker full of victims still held captive somewhere, so Kimmy must put her wedding planning on hold to find and rescue the girls.

Many of the larger than life personalities will be reprising their roles with their own new sub-plots such as Titus rallying against an action-adventure role due to fitness requirements, Lilly making moves on Kimmy’s princely fiancé, and even Jane the Backpack makes a reappearance. Viewers can also look forward to guest appearances from Chris Parnell, Johnny Knoxville, Josh Groban, and Jack McBrayer.

There’ll be no end to the absurdity as the characters will have to stall for time while viewers choose which path to take in this interactive story. They’ll be filling the gaps with anything at their disposal, including crazy eyebrow movements, cues directly prompted at the audience, and simply reiterating their names over and over again for any viewers who weren’t clear the first time.

The show not only lets viewers make the “wrong” choice but actually encourages it as the mistakes made are often more side-splittingly hilarious than the intended path. The repercussions of ill decisions go so far as killing off main characters, abruptly ending the entire schtick. Luckily, Kimmy’s world is more of a surreal-life than reality, granting do-overs to viewers who stray too far from its off-beat path.

The choice-based clicking makes viewers feel almost like a new character thrown into the lunacy of Kimmy’s world, allowing them to engage in an environment where bad calls are often the most entertaining. The Kimmy VS. The Reverend special premiered on May 12th and is available on Netflix, so join in the absurdity for a rib-cracking good time.
