Nathan Drake, the charming adventurer, finds himself in several perilous situations. No matter the threat, Drake can always use his wits, luck, and plot armor to get out alive. Some may think Drake is superhuman; who else can shoot a dessert eagle with one hand while hanging off a ravine’s edge? Yet, he’s not superhuman, he is just one lucky—yet equally unlucky—man.

He has found himself on several astonishing adventures from fighting nazi zombies on an uncharted island to free falling from an exploding plan above the Rub al Khali desert. This man should not be alive, but he is still kicking. Unchartedis supposed to imitate a blockbuster movie that plays fast and loose with realism. This list, in no way, diminishes the quality of the games.

10 Headbutting A Table - Uncharted 3

Even back when Drake was a young lad, he was still getting himself into trouble. One time, he decided to steal from a museum, which got him in trouble with the Hermetic Order. A long, death-defying chase ensued.

At one point, Drake slides down a roof, jumps a gap, breaks through a window, and slams headfirst into a table. The table breaks into little pieces, but Drake casually proceeds to get up and continue running. There is no way a normal human could survive that kind of collision.

9 Getting Blown Off A Cliff - Uncharted 2

Per Uncharted requirements, Uncharted 2 features an epic vehicle chase scene. Right when Drake and Elena think they won, an enemy shoots a missile at their truck, blowing them off a mountain. The camera slowly pans to the edge of the mountain, and you see Elena and Nate resting on a jutting rock formation. There is no way they climbed out of the vehicle, jumped out, and landed on this piece of land, especially in the middle of a free fall.

8 The Infamous Jet Ski - Uncharted 1

No one will forget the haunting memories of the jet ski missions from the original Uncharted. Elena and Drake have to ride through a sunken city with an army of soldiers shooting at them. This scenario is simply impossible.

They are in the wide open, surrounded by enemies with the higher ground. They shouldn’t have lasted long, and Elena’s grenade launcher shouldn’t have had unlimited ammo. At least, the mission is infuriatingly difficult.

7 Fighting A Tank - Uncharted 2

When Lazarevic attacks Tenzin’s village, Drake goes head to head with a tank. The tank relentlessly hunts Drake down as he runs, jumps, and shoots his way through the village. The blasts from the tank’s cannon are close enough to kill an ordinary man, but not Drake. The tank even destroys a bridge that Drake is trying to cross. The blast sends him flying and eventually slamming into the wall of a nearby building.

6 The Tower Collapse - Uncharted 4

This scene is fun, heart-pounding, cinematic, and completely unrealistic. The adventuring brothers, Nate and Sam, are climbing ancient structures per usual when they are fired upon by RPGs.

There are several times throughout this scene when the brothers should have met their end. First, getting directly hit by an RPG, and slammed into a wall. Second, running straight through a slurry of heavy machine game fire. Third, getting hit by a grenade explosion at point-blank range. Fourth, catching a rope after a long fall, then proceeding to climb up that rope as enemies fire bullets and missiles—and that’s just scratching the surface.

5 Stranded In The Rub al Khali - Uncharted 3

Drake gets stranded in The Rub al Khali, walking aimlessly for two days. He does not have food or water and he has intense hallucinations. The craziest part about this mission is what comes after. He fights off a large group of enemies while sleep-deprived, dehydrated, and starving. The only explanation for this miraculous feat is if hallucinations made Drake’s time in the desert much longer than it actually was.

4 The Capsized Boat - Uncharted 3

Uncharted 3 is filled with crazy setpieces, and the capsizing boat is one of the craziest. The boat turns to its side and everything is the wrong side up. Drake has to climb the insides of the massive ship with water flooding in from every direction. The force of that water should be strong enough to knock someone off their feet—but not Drake. There is also a scene where a big metal box traps Drake underwater. A normal human would not be able to lift that box in such conditions.

3 The Exploding Plane - Uncharted 3

Most people know about the plane mission from Uncharted 3. This may be one of the most implausible situations for our hero. Drake is thrown out of the plane and somehow catches onto the line of cargo hanging from the plane’s hatch.

He climbs up the cargo and uses his gun with one hand while the plane is still flying at high speeds. It ends with Drake grabbing onto a falling box while freefalling. The impact alone would seriously injure him. Also, what are the odds that the box has a parachute?

2 Crashing A Train Off A Mountain - Uncharted 2

Drake’s logic usually involves blowing something up. In this instance, he is sitting on a train with a gunshot wound to his side. Enemy soldiers are honing in for the kill, but there are some exploding barrels to save the day. Drake shoots them, which derails the train, and sends it off a mountain. He has to climb up the train before it completely slides off the mountain. Before, the wound caused him to sit in pain, barely able to hold his gun up. Now Drake is climbing up a train no problem.

1 Every Single Gunfight

Drake’s tactics during gunfights are not too conventional. He rolls around, jumps on top of things, and climbs the side of buildings, all while being shot at. Any decent soldier would be able to hit Drake easily but he has luck on his side. As per in-game canon, the red indicators during combat do not indicate damage but Drake’s luck running out, according to Polygon.
