Since its announcement a decade ago, the Uncharted movie has gone through a number of major changes, delays, rewrites, and overhauls. Only recently, another in a long line of the film’s directors dropped out of the project, with the movie having to reshuffle all its parts once again in an effort to get the seemingly cursed production to finally begin filming. However, it appears another setback has come in the form of a massive delay for the film, with the production once again halted in the wake of the Coronavirus pandemic.
While the film was originally meant to air on March 5, 2021, it has been pushed back to the much later date of October 8, 2021. This is no doubt to make up for the halted filming of the upcoming blockbuster, with reports coming in that the movie was set to begin shooting in early-March this year until the pandemic forced it to be postponed.
No doubt this is a massive shame, especially because the film itself hasn’t gone through the best of times along its schedule to release. Back last year, the release lost yet another director, with Travis Knight departing after only three months working on the adaptation, while it also saw another delay in January this year.
It seems the film is closer to fruition than ever before, however, with a cast and a rough sketch of the plot seemingly locked down. Tom Holland will be playing a young version of Nathan Drake, while Mark Wahlberg has joined on to play his wise-cracking mentor, Victor Sullivan. Antonio Banderos is also involved, with many assuming he may take up the mantel of the film’s villain. Here’s hoping it makes its new October 2021 release date.
The Uncharted movie is set to hit theatres on October 8, 2021.
