Sony has announced its “Play At Home” initiative, making Uncharted: The Nathan Drake Collection and Journey free starting tomorrow. 2020 is a big year for Sony. In software, the company is finally releasing Ghost Of Tsushima in June. In hardware, Sony is launching the PlayStation 5 this holiday, but fans worldwide are already discussing the new controller design. Until then, players around the globe are relying on their PS4 for entertainment.
Today, the PlayStation Blog revealed a new initiative titled Play At Home. This initiative comes in two parts. The first is offering games for free without the need of a PS+ subscription. From April 15 at 8pm PDT to May 5 at 8pm PDT, players will be able to download Uncharted: The Nathan Drake Collection and Journey for free.
Players in Germany and China will have access to Knack 2 instead of The Nathan Drake Collection. The second aspect of Play At Home is a $10 million fund for indie developers working with Sony. The company will reveal more information on this soon.
The Nathan Drake Collection contains the first three popular Uncharted titles. It will be a $19.99 value when it becomes free starting tomorrow. Meanwhile, Journey remains one of the most beloved games of the previous decade. These titles being free is a big deal for those who never played them, or wish to relive the adventures.
This isn’t the first time Sony has contributed to the fight against COVID-19. The company is donating to three groups dealing with the pandemic. Soon, players will have access to some notable games to keep busy.
