Surprise hit Untitled Goose Game has announced an interesting little detail regarding the game’s new multiplayer mode. Developer House House has revealed that the second goose will be getting a legendary new honk.
If you haven’t played it, Untitled Goose Game is a title that punches well above its weight class. The game took home the Game Of The Year award from D.I.C.E. in 2019, beating out games like Death Stranding and Outer Wilds. The multiplayer mode will be released next week and will allow you and a friend to wreak havoc on unsuspecting townspeople.
Of course, it wouldn’t be helpful to either you or your friend if both geese had the same honk. Which is why House House has added a new war cry for the second goose. As you and your friend waddle around the hamlet, you’ll both be able to distract and harass the townspeople—and everyone will know which goose is doing what.
Being a nuisance is part of the fun (all of the fun?) of Untitled Goose Game. Causing small inconveniences for hours on end makes the game weirdly entertaining. Perhaps it that is because trolling is a hobby that many, many people enjoy. Being able to do it in a cartoon world where there are no serious consequences is that much better.
Of course, causing trouble gets significantly easier (and more interesting) when there are two of you. One to distract, the other to grab. Alternatively, combing your troll powers will allow you to be able to steal and displace much heavier items—opening up new possibilities for mayhem.
Adding multiplayer was a great decision by House House. When you are good friends with someone, you develop synchronicity that you don’t always get to experience. However, that’s all you’ll experience with Untitled Goose Game. It’s just you and your friend against the innocent townspeople. The synchronized destruction of peace is something of a thing of beauty. You may even go as far as calling it beautiful. When things just smoothly fall apart, it’s hard not to marvel at it. We’re glad that the sound of that glorious destruction has a new wrinkle. Honk if you agree.
