Survival crafting games are a mix of an MMORPG and open-world RPG feel, which keeps many people addicted for months. Valheim is at the top of the charts as one of the newest survival-craft games with a medieval take, but there are more titles that are just as game-changing.
Most crafting games don’t have a set aesthetic or time frame. You can assume everything is set in the modern day and you’re just lost at sea or on land with your own devices. With these games, the developers strive to create something different with unique settings and story modes that keep you playing.
10 Valheim
This vibrant Viking realm offers a mythical, role-playing experience for a total of ten players to enjoy. Akin to Terraria, there are multiple bosses you can face that will allow you to acquire better tools and armor once defeated. You can build to your hearts content in creative ways or set off on a mission to kill ever large beast you can.
9 Alchemist’s Awakening
Here you are a powerful alchemist that can craft spells and make things out of thin air. You can use the special elemental powers in combat or to create building blocks and items. There are villages full of people who you can interact with, allowing for a story-feel. As a powerful being you can even create life and summon familiars to stick by your side. Alchemist’s Awakening is a multiplayer crafting adventure game where magic takes the forefront.
8 Craftopia
Made in Japan, Craftopia and has that anime-MMO feeling in it’s graphics. It’s a multiplayer survival game made for idle enjoyment. The world contains options for all types of gamers from farming, dungeons, hunting animals, casting spells, building bases, and much more. Craftopia is a large world for a group of friends to endlessly explore and create in.
7 Mist Survival
Mist Survival chooses the horror route. There are zombies in this apocalyptic world and you are the only person alive. That you know of, anyway. This is a single-player experience where you must hunt, build, and survive against the odds of a raging virus that has affected the entire world.
There are many other zombie, open-world crafting games out there. What Mist Survival brings to the table is a single-player and atmospheric world full of enemies, animals, and NPC’s. And don’t forget the heavy mist that comes in waves and blinds you completely.
6 Eco
Lush, vibrant, and happy life bustles in your lands. But can it stop a raging meteor? Eco is an open-world, world management game where you have to build, create, and then sustain life and it’s ecosystem so that it can survive a big bang. All while trying to sustain your own vitals. You have to hunt and craft to survive without taking too much from the environment unless you want to see the world crumble and fall. Prevent global warming and natural disaster while also trying to sustain yourself and other players.
5 Praey For The Gods
Survive a frosty, cut throat environment while murdering every God your kin prays to. This a survival RPG where long winter nights are perilous and the threats are jaw-dropping. Taking on Gods is similar to Shadows Of The Colossus where it’s little ole you against ginormous beings. There are other enemies that are just your size, though. Face the cold, the undead, the Gods and the mystery.
4 Ancestors: The Humankind Odyssey
Most survival games have you playing as a regular human trying to start from scratch in a rugged forest or beautiful island. But Ancestors: The Humankind Odyssey brings you back to your true roots. Monkeys, boys. Monkeys.
In this game you must experience what it’s like to evolve. Starting from a baby to a mother of five, you must continue your species’ existence and learn and discover new things. All the while facing the dangers of the wild.
3 Breathedge
Survival craft, but in space. Your space ship crashed and now it’s just you and your seemingly immortal pet chicken. Learn what happened on your ship before it crashed and find survivors while trying to live without gravity, human touch, and real food. Living is tough when everything made to keep humans alive is far from your little pod in space. There are multiple ways to die and you can lose all your progress doing so.
2 Astroneer
This is a multiplayer game where you can explore different planets with friends in a light hearted and colorful crafting world. Up to four people can play and tear down or build up malleable planets. You can dig and reform the very surface of these lands and try to learn the secrets they have to offer.
1 Wrongworld
Don’t judge a book by its cover. Don’t laugh. This is a scary game where every threat will cost you. You play as a little furry monster who dropped down on the wrong planet at the wrong time. The monsters are endless and the tools are scarce. Use your forehead to mine rock and make friends with Salad Fingers, but most importantly craft and build a base to survive!
