Control the battlefield and unleash devastation with Brimstone in VALORANT. Brimstone hails from the United States and is a battle-hardened veteran with an impressive arsenal of tools. He’s equally good at pushing the enemy as he is defending a site. If he’s used correctly, he can also mislead and misdirect the enemy. Brimstone’s abilities include Sky Smoke, Incendiary, Stim Beacon, and Orbital Strike.
Sky Smoke
Sky Smoke is Brimstone’s signature ability. He starts off each round with one in his inventory, and another two can be purchased. This ability allows him to open a mini-map of the area on his HUD, and bring down up to three orbital deployment smokescreens. He can place them with pinpoint accuracy and block off corridors and other avenues of attack. Each smokescreen lasts 14 seconds and ultimately kills enemy vision.
Sky Smoke is perfect at the beginning of a round to block the enemies’ movements. If it’s deployed immediately, they will either have to wait or run through blindly and risk getting shot. This ability is also great for blocking flankers and locking down an area. If you block all the entry points, the opposing team will have a harder time getting through.
This ability is also effective at misdirecting enemies. You can deploy it in certain areas to make them think you are going in that direction, while you go the other way. Smokescreen can even be placed on after another continuously to block an area for most of the round.
Incendiary
Incendiary launches a single grenade that detonates, leaving a pool of fire on the ground. You can only use it once per round, so it’s best to use it wisely. It’s fantastic for blocking off areas or even hurting enemies who are hiding behind cover. Since it can bounce off walls, you can also use it for clearing areas, when you are pushing.
This ability lasts for 8.3 seconds and can take down a heavily armored enemy with full health. It’s the perfect weapon for blocking the spike and buying your team some time when defending. Anyone who tries to defuse it will die instantly. If you are trying to diffuse the spike, it’s also useful for launching in areas where the defenders may be camping. They will be forced to move and give away their position.
Stim Beacon
When the Stim Beacon is deployed, any player who moves into its radius shoots faster. Since this ability works for both teams, you have to be wise when using it. Having a faster rate of fire can also decrease accuracy, so it’s best to shoot in burst fire with certain guns.
The Stim Beacon is perfect for when you’re defending an area, and you need to block off the entrances. Your teammates can also stand in its range and get the rapid-fire ability. The effects of the Stim Beacon last for four seconds after you’ve left it, so you can even use it to increase your rate of fire before pushing into an area. In some cases, it can be used to mislead or bait the opposing team. You can place it in an area, fire some shots and either wait to ambush them, or move somewhere else.
Orbital Strike
Brimstone’s ultimate is Orbital Strike. Orbital Strike can be targeted to a precise location, and a lethal pulse comes down from the sky, destroying anything in its path. This ability lasts for four seconds and is even deadly through roofs and other types of cover.
Orbital Strike is fantastic if you are guarding the spike. You can bring it down when you hear the opposing team diffusing it and kill them. You can also use it before they diffuse to keep them away. It can also be used for snuffing out opponents hiding behind cover, or to flush them out when you’re pushing.
Tactics
Some of these abilities work very well together. If you’ve deployed your smokescreen, you can either fire your incendiary to where the enemy is waiting, or you can use your stim beacon while you cover the area. If you are guarding the spike, you can first use incendiary to keep enemies away, and once it’s expired, use Orbital Strike. Sometimes you can even drop a smokescreen around the spike and also have your incendiary around it at the same time. Any players who wonder in blindly will be in for a nasty surprise. Brimstone is useful to the team in almost any situation and can often get them out of trouble with the weapons at his disposal.
