VALORANT developers have released a new line of weapon skins called EGO by OneTap, and it showcases a more modern and sleek design for the game’s firearms.

As a free-to-play game, VALORANT must find ways to keep the money flowing to ensure their game remains profitable in the long-term in order to keep the lights on and add more content. For many of these kinds of games weapon skins are the main cash cow and the developers are hoping their new EGO by OneTap line of skins will appeal to its players.

The developers first revealed the line of new weapon skins on the game’s Twitter page before it’s official release on Thursday. The collection is for the Ghost, Stinger, Vandal, Guardian, and melee knife. It also includes a rhino in a white hoodie Gunbuddy to attach to the weapons.

Each weapon has a base look that comes with varying color schemes to give each weapon a unique customized look for the owner. The weapons can be a gold, white, and black luxury design, a teal and pink scheme, and a black and red scheme. Many of the weapons have the phrase ‘Unstoppable’ written on the sides, and the knife displays the word in what appears to be Chinese characters on the blade.

The skin designs are certainly cool to look at and fans responding to the new collection generally seem impressed as well. Of course, once the conversation turns to cost the reaction becomes a bit mixed.

According to PCGames, each individual weapon skin will cost 1,775 VALORANT Points, which is about $17.75. The melee weapon skin is a bit more expensive at 3,550 VP or $35.50. Players who enjoy the entire line and want a bargain can get the collection in a bundle for 7,100 VP or $71.

Many players have pointed out that this is standard pricing for weapon skins through VALORANT and for other games like CS:GO. A portion of the fanbase with excess cash and a passion for the game will likely buy the skins to show them off in upcoming matches.

For others, the collection is simply unobtainable at that price point, and they’ll likely wait for a special discount or a future Battle Pass event to snag some of the skins. Then, of course, there are the gamers who will absolutely refuse to spend a penny on a free-to-play game.

All in all, the new skin collection looks impressive, and shows off the creative talent of the development team.
