Riot Games’ new first-person shooter VALORANT takes off in closed beta this week, opening the gates for those who have access. VALORANT is a tactical game, featuring playable characters, called agents, each with unique abilities. Hailing from South Korea, Jett is an impressively agile agent with some scary accurate knives at her disposal.

As with all of VALORANT’s agents, Jett has four abilities. Two are basic abilities, purchasable at the start of a round. She also has one signature ability, automatically ready at the beginning of each round, and one ultimate ability, which must be charged before it can be used. Ultimates are charged by getting kills, defusing the spike, or collecting the Ultimate Orbs that are staggered around the map.

Jett’s first basic ability is Cloudburst, which allows the player to throw a ball of smoke that instantly expands upon impact with a surface. The cloud ball blocks vision, and can be thrown straight forward or in curved paths, depending on which direction the player moves their crosshair. Cloudburst costs 100 credits at the start of a round.

Updraft is Jett’s second basic ability, giving players the power to reach heights that other agents cannot. Once equipped, players can instantly send Jett flying into the air, and maneuver their way onto high structures that can’t normally be reached. Players can also use this ability to send themselves soaring through windows faster than they could climb. Updraft is available to buy for 200 credits at the beginning of each round.

Similar to Updraft, Jett’s signature ability Tailwind gives her an air-powered boost. Tailwind doesn’t propel the character into the air, but in the direction she’s moving. If Jett is standing still, the ability will send her flying forward. Available for use at the start of each round, Tailwind gives Jett the extra speed she needs to run circles around her enemies.

Blade Storm is Jett’s ultimate ability, giving the player a collection of five deadly accurate knives to throw at opponents. Once equipped, pressing mouse one will send one knife flying, while pressing mouse two will launch all five. Once Jett gets a kill with the knives, all five are replenished. Blade Storm can be used alongside Jett’s high-flying abilities, as the knives remain pixel-perfect accurate even in the air. Blade Storm requires six charges before use.

Jett’s abilities turn her into a deadly assassin sure to leave enemies in the dust. VALORANT is expected to fully release in the summer of 2020.
