After nearly two months of beta testing, VALORANT closed its servers at 9 a.m. PT Wednedsay in preparation for its official launch. The game will become available for everyone after June 2, though the exact time of launch has yet to be announced.
All purchases and progress made in the beta will be reset, with the exception of in-game rewards players earned during the closed beta. Those rewards are account-bound and will carry over once the full game officially launches.
Any VALORANT points purchased will be fully refunded along with an additional 20% bonus. The game itself will be free to play, but in-game cosmetics must be purchased with real currency.
Once the full game arrives on June 2, Riot Games promises a new experience. At least one new agent, a new map, and a new game mode will be released to celebrate the official launch. Additional content will make its way into the game throughout the summer months as well.
Other changes to the game are still unknown. Many players were concerned about the hit detection in the second half of the beta, as it functioned incorrectly at times. If it goes unaddressed, this could become a major issue. As VALORANT seeks to enter the esports scene, accurate hit detection is necessary for providing fair matches.
However, it’s likely the VALORANT team is working on a fix for such issues as they prepare for the official launch. They already promised a fix for the hit detection, so if it isn’t ready by June 2, it will probably come through shortly afterwards.
