German genius Killjoy will be temporarily unavailable in VALORANT games until a particularly game-breaking Turret exploit is fixed, Riot Games announced yesterday. The Turret is one of Killjoy’s unique abilities, allowing her to stop any flanking enemies in their tracks, and deal some damage as well. Certain areas allow the Turret to be placed under the map, giving any Killjoy an unfair advantage over her opponents.

Riot announced the update last night on Twitter, joking that the Turret exploit was “Killjoy’s newest ability.” Being able to place Killjoy’s Turrets under VALORANT’s maps has been a problem since the agent first debuted in Episode I, Act II. “Believe it or not, this update was not intended,” Riot says before confirming that the agent will be out of order until the bug can be patched out.

Similar bugs have been found with the Turret ability before, as certain areas on Split would allow the machine to be placed under the map or see through walls. Spots were later found on Icebox when the map was released, allowing the Turret to stand under the map, completely hidden from enemy view. The Turret still works as intended even when underneath the floorboards, alerting Killjoy to any approaching enemies and shooting damage-dealing bullets at them. The enemies will be unable to see the Turret, and unable to shoot it down.

While it’s not clear which specific bugged Turret placement prompted Riot to remove the agent, the genius inventor will be missing in action until the glitch is fixed. Another Turret exploit, which allows players to place Sage’s wall on top of a Turret, has been addressed by Riot in the past. Guild Esports were disqualified from a VALORANT First Strike qualifier for using the bug.

Riot did not give an expected timeline for when Killjoy would be reintroduced. The agent has been fairly popular since her Act II debut, garnering around an 8% pick rate at Diamond ranks and above, along with a 50% win rate at high ranks. The Sentinel agent has an ability kit perfect for slowing down enemies and gaining control of bombsites.

Riot has not yet confirmed when Killjoy will be back in action, but we hope she’ll be available to play again soon.
