Look, I’m a simple gal - I see vampires, I throw money at my screen. But vampires, goth girls, and visual novels in one fell swoop? Hot damn! That’s apparently the tree Vampire: The Masquerade: Shadows of New York is barking up, and folks? I’m already on board.
Shadows of New York will put players in the shoes of Lasombra. She’s a bit of an outcast in her sect of vampires, who the marketing materials describe as “an immigrant who never found her roots in a city of immigrants.” But the brutal murder of a vampire leader puts all eyes on Lasombra, who’s not only in a fight to prove her innocence, but one for her very survival. Who has it out for her? And who was really behind the slaying?
The developer has mentioned that you’ll have to take more than one bite out of this Big Apple, as multiple playthroughs will be required to see the full extent of the story. That’s pretty par for the course when it comes to visual novels, of course. Most visual novels are lengthy affairs if you really dig into every storyline on offer.
Luckily, we won’t have to wait too long to let Shadows of New York whisk us away. It’ll come to PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PC sometime in 2020.
