Following a string of rumors, the Vancouver Titans announced they have parted ways with Hyeon-Woo “JJANU” Choi - their off-tank and 2019 Overwatch League MVP finalist. This is just the first of presumably many announcements the Vancouver Titans will make over the course of who knows how long.

JJANU was a massive part of Vancouver’s record breaking inaugural 2019 season. His stellar D.Va play throughout really enabled the Titans’ main-tank Bumper to play his ultra-aggressive style that pushed the tone of fights in ways very few teams can even match. The Vancouver Titans were suffocating and in large part due to JJANU’s rock-steady D.Va play throughout.

This looks to just be the tip-of-the-iceberg when it comes to Vancouver Titans news. After announcing they parted ways with JJANU, the Titans also announced the departure of head coach Ji-Sub “PaJion” Hwang. It seems the Titans are going for a dragged-out announcement of roster moves as no other announcements have been made yet.

There was clearly something fundamentally wrong with how the organization approached the Titans’ players. It isn’t common for entire teams to possibly break up after having one of the best seasons of all time. Yet, this is where the Vancouver Titans sit and if player reactions on social media are anything to go off of, there are still plenty of announcements to be made. This Vancouver implosion is going to go down as one of the biggest moments in Overwatch League history. And honestly, it might be one of the saddest.
