Over the past few decades, video games have given us some of the most iconic sounds and music themes. Almost anyone, either as an avid gamer or not, can likely recognize the main theme from Super Mario Bros. for the Nintendo Entertainment System, but the Video Game SFX Quiz will leave even the most dedicated of fans stumped!
Sixty audio clues await, and there is no simple way to say it, this is a hard test. Or rather, it is not a hard test, but sixty distinct video game titles with only a single sound as a clue calls a broad range of gaming experience, and a decent memory. At first try, we could only list thirteen of the sixty. It was frustrating to no end because many sounds are familiar, and have no doubt been heard countless times in a game whose title cannot be remembered.
Users should take not that each field auto completes to the correct answer, once a close enough answer has been typed in. That means that if you’re sure a sound is from a game series, you might need to try different titles from the franchise to find the correct one.
This might be a great quiz to do with friends online. Since everyone is socially distancing anyways, consider having an online chat with friends and seeing if all sixty sounds can be properly labelled.
