There’s little not to like about the Volvo V40, though it might not suit all tastes and the pedigree of the competition out there is strong. Ignoring that and the V40 is stylish, safe, packed with clever tech, and drives well too. It’s spacious, built like a tank, but with the grace of a ballerina on the road. It’ll tick all the boxes for a family car, though it manages to bring the fun too. The D2 is less exciting than its bigger brother D3, but all the models we drove had that little something about them. There’s very little not to like about this car.
