Wallace & Gromit isn’t the first franchise that springs to mind when predicting who will give AR gaming a whirl in 2020, but here we are.

Ever since Pokémon GO brought AR gaming to the world’s attention in 2016, it feels as if everyone has been trying to replicate its success. Even Pokémon GO’s developer Niantic has tried to lay another golden egg by turning other beloved franchises into AR adventures. While some have taken off, none have reached the heights of Pokémon GO.

Chances are Wallace & Gromit won’t be a massive hit either, but rather a fun diversion for fans of the IP. Claymation to AR is an odd swerve to take, but it’s a journey Aardman has revealed Wallace & Gromit to be on via upcoming mobile game The Big Fix Up. It will task the British man and dog duo with fixing up the city of Bristol — so quite the tall order. No offense to Bristolians, of course, that’s just a big job for two people.

As is the case with Pokémon GO right now, much of The Big Fix Up’s campaign can be played from home. It will also allow players to explore an augmented reality version of Bristol city center. A nice feature for anyone who has never paid a visit to the city in person. The Big Fix Up will be released in the UK first, and then rolled out to the rest of the world at a later date.
