Games Workshop has added two new warbands and accessories to their tabletop strategy miniatures game Warhammer Underworlds: Beastgrave.
Warhammer Underworlds was first introduced in 2017 with the release of Shadespire. It has since seen regular updates with new warbands released periodically and a new ‘edition’ released annually. The major annual update can be thought of as a new season of play with the rules largely remaining the same, with clarifications and new features added. The season setting is also changed with new warbands and game boards included. Contents from prior seasons are still compatible with the new releases.
Warhammer Underworlds is a strategy miniatures game based within the Warhammer Age of Sigmar universe that is suitable for 2 - 4 players. The number of players determines the number of game boards to be used, with each representing the player’s territory. Each play takes control of a small Warband and has a deck of cards that they can use during the game. The objective is to score as many Glory Points as possible. Games usually take 30 minutes and are played over a series of 3 rounds. Each round is made up of player turns, with each player making four actions in their turn. Players can move their miniatures around the boards, engage in combat, or use a card’s action ability. Once a player has made all their actions they have the opportunity to play any appropriate cards they may have in their hand. These can be countered by other players. Once the game is completed, the scores are added up and a victor announced.
Two new Warbands have been announced. Morgok’s Krushas comprise of three Orruk Ironjawz fighters. Headed up by Morgok, these fighters are renowned for their hunting of powerful beasts across the lands of Ghur. They are single-minded hoping to achieve glory through brute strength alone. They are joined by Morgwaeth’s Blade-coven, five Daughters of Khaine. Their playstyle is hybrid; perhaps best suited to capturing objectives while eliminating their foes at the same time.
Both Warbands are available for pre-order now from Games Workshop or your local independent games store and will be available on general release from August 22nd. Each Warband set comes with a supporting deck of cards. There are also matching card sleeves and dice sets are available to round out the offered
