The ongoing coronavirus pandemic has had a major impact on the world at large, and the entertainment industry is no exception. The coronavirus has seen numerous movies push back their release dates, with Warner Bros. the latest studio to announce big movie delays.
The Batman has been delayed to October 1, 2021. The Flash is now releasing on June 2, 2022, and the Shazam 2 release date has been pushed back to November 4, 2022. Black Adam, another upcoming DCEU movie that Warner Bros. has in the pipeline, is retaining its December 22, 2021 release date. It should be noted, however, that production on both The Batman and Black Adam has been delayed, and so it’s not entirely out of the realm of possibility that both movies get pushed back again at some point down the line.
Besides comic book movies, Warner Bros. delayed some of its other movies as well. This includes The Many Saints of Newark, a prequel to the hit HBO show The Sopranos, which is now releasing on March 12, 2021.
Moviegoers will no doubt be disappointed to hear that these Warner Bros. movie release dates have been pushed back, but they should brace themselves for more bad news. Some movie theater chains are facing bankruptcy in the wake of the pandemic, and so it’s clear that the coronavirus is going to have a significant and lasting impact on the movie theater business.
