A bug that appears to be affecting Modern Warfare’s Battle Pass across both the main game and Warzone is preventing players from leveling up.
Call of Duty: Warzone might have enjoyed a successful launch, during which more than 50 million players tried out the game, but it hasn’t been void of issues. Seems as if the more people are playing the game, the harder it is to please them all. Between removing Trios, getting rid of bounties, and a handful of other unpopular decisions, Infinity Ward must feel like it is carefully walking through a minefield right now.
If that is the case, then it looks like the developer took another wrong step this week. Players of both Modern Warfare and its battle royale spin-off have been reporting issues with XP. Some haven’t been receiving it all, which prevents them from leveling up and making Battle Pass progression.
The aptly named “Zero XP” bug has been affecting a litany of players, reports Eurogamer. “I just played three rounds without earning any XP for my character or my battle pass. Are you serious about this?” one player complained. That same player went on to type an added shot at Infinity Ward, stating that this is the last thing he expected on top of an already buggy game.
Activision appears to be aware of the bug as players have been complaining in numbers on social media. Their support account on Twitter suggested players clear their cache and then give the game another ago. However, players who have tried that “fix” have returned to Twitter to reveal that it isn’t a fix at all.
Warzone might be free-to-play, but Modern Warfare is not, and neither is the Battle Pass. The whole point of battle royale Battle Passes is to give players who want a little something extra in terms of loot and cosmetic items the opportunity to earn them. If there is no way of working up through Battle Pass levels then chances are those who forked out for one will get mad, fast. Since CoD’s developers are aware of the problem, the hope is that the problem will be patched very soon.
