The gas mask animation in Warzone can be the difference between winning and losing a round for some players. Here’s how to stop it happening.
Call of Duty: Warzone has a lot in common with other battle royale titles on the market, but also a lot of things that set it apart. The Gulag, for instance. A one-on-one scenario where players have the chance to slay a foe and re-enter the fray. Don’t be surprised if you see a similar take on this system show up in other battle royale games in the future.
As for things that remain the same, the ever-decreasing circle designed to prevent players from camping or hiding is naturally a factor in Warzone. Players who find themselves on the wrong side of the circle will be engulfed in poisonous gas. A gas that will deplete their health and eventually kill them unless they happen to have a gas mask.
By the time the round is coming to an end, that circle will be pretty small. So small that a player might accidentally stumble backward into it when trying to ready themselves for some actual conflict. At this point, if that player has a gas mask, it will automatically be equipped. However, it doesn’t just appear and reappear on a player’s face. There’s an animation when the mask goes on, and another when the mask comes off again.
During that time, the player’s hands are occupied and they can’t fire again. That opens them up to an attack from another player. There is a way to stop the animation from happening, and its showcased in action above. Have the heartbeat sensor out. Yes, it will also prevent you from using a weapon, but for a much shorter time than it would should you let the gas mask animation play out.
Not only that, but a quick glance at the heartbeat sensor at this moment in time probably wouldn’t be the worst thing in the world. If a player is unsure where gunfire might be coming from, or where their final rivals might be, the sensor could alert them to that. Either way, having it out will allow much more time to prepare yourself to return fire as your gas mask comes on and off.
