Welcome to Season 5 of Call of Duty: Warzone. There’s a train now–an armored train that’s filled to the brim with tasty loot to fight over. It’s loosely based on the sort of armored trains that crisscross the Soviet Union, transporting military arms and armaments including nuclear weapons.
They were designed to withstand a tank shell and keep moving. So when a group of players thought that a couple of trucks would slow it down… well, they probably should have known better, but maybe they didn’t read up on Russian history.
We have #TeamMountainGoat to thank for this recent Warzone experiment. These are the same guys that often perform stupid stunts in Warzone just to see what would happen, such as transporting an ATV to the top of a skyscraper, piling all four squadmates on board, and then driving that ATV off the roof. Both the team and the ATV survived undamaged, strangely enough, and since then they’ve been testing Warzone’s limits.
Their latest test is the armored train that now circles Verdansk. Normally, players would get a high-speed vehicle and hop aboard the train as it passes, looting the often rare weapons you can find onboard. But what if you didn’t need to perform the somewhat risky maneuver of train hijacking? What if you could just park a few trucks in front of the train to make it stop?
So #TeamMountainGoat got four armored military trucks and parked them right on top of the tracks inside of a tunnel. And then they waited.
They didn’t have to wait too long. After a few minutes, the train arrived, and unceremoniously plowed its way through all four armored trucks. It didn’t even slow down. The trucks were just pushed out of the way, with one exploding while the others were carried all the way to the end of the tunnel.
This is likely what would have happened in real life if you were to put a few piddly trucks in front of an armored train. Those things weren’t designed to be easily derailed.
