Infinity Ward has quickly backtracked and re-added Trios to Call of Duty: Warzone after its removal caused uproar among players.

Timing is everything, and the timing of Call of Duty: Warzone’s release couldn’t have been any better. Just as people around the world were told they shouldn’t be leaving the house, CoD offered up its best take on the battle royale genre to date. 30 million people gave the game a try in the first ten days and it seems as if a large chunk of those players have stuck around.

Similar to Apex Legends, Warzone launched with a Trios mode. However, Infinity Ward added Solos a few days later for players who prefer to go it alone. It was and still is possible to do that in Trios by switching off auto-fill on the main screen, but that would mean going up against teams of three all by yourself.

Then, earlier this week, Quads was added to the game. The ability to compete in teams of four, as its name implies. However, rather than complement Trios, Quads replaced it. There was no explanation as to why that was the case, or any mention of Trios’ removal in the update notes. That led to players who have become accustomed to competing in teams of three getting a little angry.

So angry, in fact, that Infinity Ward has quickly backtracked and re-added Trios to Warzone. It revealed the news via a tweet on Friday morning. Plus, for players who do like the new Quads mode, that is sticking around too. In even more good news, there’s also talk of a Duos mode being added before the end of Season 3. Fingers crossed it doesn’t muscle out a pre-existing mode to make room.

It seems as if more changes are incoming for Warzone in the near future. Its devs have admitted to testing five-player squads, and also want to up the number of players in each round from 150 to 200. For now, players who missed Trios these past two days can now play it again, and those who want to compete in teams of four can do so too.
