Warzone might have tempted in more than 60 million players in its first two months, but a lot of those players aren’t happy about the game’s terrible audio quality.
As has become the norm in the battle royale genre, Infinity Ward is learning fast that Warzone’s fanbase is one that is not afraid to voice its opinion. The latest issue the fanbase wants fixed is Warzone’s audio. The inconsistency of when and where players can hear enemy footsteps and gunfire is wild and often inexplicable, and players want answers.
Even players using expensive audio setups and employing tweaks suggested online are encountering the same problems. Sometimes players can hear enemies firing off a gun hundreds of meters away, and at other times they can’t hear someone walking right behind them. And no, not all of those players have the Dead Silence perk equipped.
One conspiracy theory is that IW has left the sound broken on purpose. That since Warzone is free-to-play, its developers want the game to be as accessible as possible. Leaving the sound that way that it is right now means there is no advantage for players who have a hi-tech audio setup. It sounds more or less the same even for players using nothing more than the speakers on their TV. If that is the case, then the issue might never be fixed.
