Anyone familiar with the competitive Call of Duty: Warzone community likely knows the name HusKerrs. As one of the most prominent players, and frequent championship winner, it’s a big deal when someone like him encounters an infamous Warzone bug.
During the Vikkstar’s $210,000 Warzone Showdown tournament, Huskerrs encountered a completely bizarre Warzone bug. Although it did not affect the outcome of the tournament, it was still a bad time for any glitch to manifest. Bugs can cost competitive players entire games losing them thousands in prize money.
Recently, HusKerrs has been competing in several big championships with AverageJoeWo coming within the top three in most events. The duo took first place during week 4 with a payout of $12,000, third place in Week 5 for $2,000, and first place in Week 6 for $12,000. It was during one of these matches that HusKerrs entered the Gulag for a 1v1 duel. Unfortunately, his opponent disconnected resulting in a very annoying glitch to manifest on HusKerrs equipment.
In Warzone, there is a bug that can appear when a Gulag match is won before the time on equipment runs out. If equipment is still locked and the match ends, the game simply does not unlock it resulting in a permanent lock for the remainder of that match. Although HusKerrs did win the Gulag match, he now had to win the rest of the event with no equipment.
As a professional competitor, HusKerrs is well aware of the game’s glitches and nuances. On stream, he simply explained to his unaware teammate that he would be unable to use equipment. Even later in the match when the duo claimed their personal Warzone loadouts, the game simply did not register lethal or tactical equipment.
Thankfully, the bug did not matter in the long run. The duo team claimed their win comfortably without the equipment becoming a necessity. While this situation could have turned out worse, the fact that everything worked itself out made the tournament continue uneventfully.
As of now, the issue is still live on InfinityWard’s Trello board. The public access board displays all bugs, glitches, and problems of interest within both Warzone and Modern Warfare allowing the community live access to developer priorities. Although the problem is listed, the item is still in progress of being fixed with no patch scheduled as of yet.
Until this bug is sorted, players should do their best to play out any Gulag match. This bug may have not affected a pro player, but in a more casual situation it could cost some fans the entire match.
