Originally planned for a December 3 release, Watch Dogs: Legion’s multiplayer mode has been delayed into 2021. The team at Ubisoft is dedicated to fixing issues with the single-player campaign before releasing new content – starting with TU 2.20 this week.
An update on the official Ubisoft blog reads, “As part of our commitment to fixing the game’s issues, we’ve decided to delay the Online mode of Watch Dogs: Legion to early 2021. This will allow us to focus on fixing issues with single player, and it will give us more time to test the Online experience to help ensure a smooth launch of the mode.”
It’s unfortunate to see a delay, but at least Ubisoft is already making good on its promise to fix the issues plaguing Legion’s single player. Update 2.20 is deploying this week, patching out issues that caused longer load times, corrupted save files, and various other optimizations. If you play on PC you’ll also see the addition of a manual save button.
Watch Dogs: Legion’s multiplayer mode will give you plenty of new ways to experience dystopian London. Several co-op missions will be added, you can freely roam the streets with up to four players, and there will even be a PvP mode for those looking for a bit of competition. Until it drops in early 2021, however, you’ll need to keep yourself entertained with the content available in single player.
Watch Dogs: Legion got off to a strong start, earning favorable reviews from most critics. It left a bit to be desired with its gameplay mechanics – and a few too many bugs – but overall was another solid entry in the popular franchise. It’s been on the market for a while now, and players were no doubt looking forward to the addition of multiplayer and the new content it would bring. Here’s hoping Ubisoft can fix all the issues with Legion by the end of 2020 and we see the big multiplayer update within the first few months of 2021.
