The next line of Nvidia’s GeForce RTX series debuts to immense excitement today - that is, if the swirling theories are true. It’s still relatively unclear if the highly anticipated RTX 3000 series will be making a splash at today’s event, but it only makes sense given Nvidia’s recent highlighting of the RTX 3090 stats.
Nvidia’s Ampere Live event will take place across multiple platforms, namely both YouTube and Twitch, in addition to Nvidia’s main website. Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang will take the stage at 9 AM PT/12 PM ET/5 PM UK.
Of top priority to many Nvidia and GeForce RTX fans alike will be the RTX 3080 and RTX 3090 cards specifically, which will feature some tantalizing upgrades in the form of a heatsink redesign, brand new 12-pin connector, 7nm manufacturing cycle, and a potential 50% upgrade from previous hardware specs. There are also several reports of other cards in the making, those being an RTX 3060, RTX 3070, and RTX 3070 Ti, all of which could round out the RTX 3000 series card offerings and give consumers a wide selection to choose from in memory specs, VRAM, and more.
There are also some rumblings of a potential live Cyberpunk 2077 showcase on the new RTX 3000 cards, which sort of makes sense, given the amount of life-like ingenuity CD Projekt Red has bled into the game with raytracing capabilities and expert lighting. Cyberpunk isn’t new to the Nvidia scene, as witnessed with CD Projekt’s #RTXOn Sweepstakes RTX 2080 Ti limited edition Cyberpunk GPU. An absolute beauty to behold, but nothing like the now forthcoming 3000 series. As of yet, it’s still unclear if CDPR will be making an appearance at Nvidia’s Ampere event, though it also wouldn’t be a surprise, either.
Huang has expressed his own excitement with the new line of GPUs, claiming that 2020 will have the “best gaming season ever.” As the countdown wanes, the excitement only intensifies to see what next Nvidia has in store for fans and consumers alike with the future of its RTX GPUs.
