The Minecraft VR gaming communities are banding together from November 23 to 27 to support and raise money for the No Kid Hungry charity by hosting numerous Twitch live streaming events across the Internet. Leading the gaming and fundraising charge is prolific Twitch streamer and YouTuber WayneRadioTV, who will cap off the week’s events with a 24-hour Minecraft VR marathon, with the goal of raising $50,000 for the charity.

According to the official press release, a large and diverse collection of Minecraft streamers and community creators “will play a variety of game types within Minecraft, everything from free build modes to community challenges to battle royale, in the days leading up to Wayne’s marathon.” WayneRadioTV’s event is being called Wayner Must Survive, and is set up to be a two-phase event.

“We’re using a survival format,” Wayne says. “I have the day to build up my defenses in the world, and then at night a bunch of lucky community members will enter the server and get the chance to hunt me down. I have to be in VR the entire time. And viewers can change what happens in-game with donations. I love this community, but I’m not expecting an easy 24 hours,” Wayne adds, laughing.

Minecraft community leaders are lending their support to the week’s events by contributing official Minecraft merch and with their donations. The press release says the list is still building, but here’s a sample of what’s being offered so far:

  • A $10,000 donation match from Spark Squared, a professional Minecraft build team A $2,000 donation match from Rainway, a game streaming service that gives players the freedom to stream their PC library to the device of their choice A custom “Corey” skin from Blockception, available for free for a limited time in the popular Galaxite Minecraft server 20 Minecraft “Survive” blankets for donation incentives from Jay Franco, a Minecraft merchandiser An assortment of builds and maps from Varuna Builds, also a professional Minecraft build team

If you’re a fellow Minecraft streamer and would like to join in on this event, you can “email Kayla (kayla@marsh.al) to have your stream officially tied to the campaign”, according to the press release. The Wayner Must Survive details are over on the event’s Tiltify page, where you can also send in your No Kid Hungry support donations.

Tune in to the WayneRadioTV Twitch channel starting at 12 p.m. EST on November 27 for the Wayner Must Survive event.
