We’re a bit overdue for another helping of Wang. In a very straightforward teaser from the official Shadow Warrior Twitter account, developer Flying Wild Hog has all but confirmed that Shadow Warrior 3 will be making an appearance soon. With Devolver Digital holding its annual insane fest that is the “Devolver Direct” next week, that is probably the unannounced game the publisher was teasing.

Shadow Warrior 2 released back in 2016, so the timeframe adds up. Four years is about what you’d expect for a sequel in the modern gaming industry. In fact, the Shadow Warrior reboot launched three years prior, so I’m almost convinced that is what’s happening.

Shadow Warrior is a retro FPS that has close ties to Duke Nukem 3D. Originally developed by 3D Realms, it was almost too coincidental to hear of a reboot after the release of Duke Nukem Forever in 2011. Many expected the worst, but Flying Wild Hog pulled through.

It may not have set the gaming world on fire, but it was a far better modernized take on the original than whatever Gearbox crapped out for Duke. The sequel’s positive reception basically cemented Shadow Warrior as a staple for Devolver, so it only makes sense to see this news. Now we play the waiting game.
