A weird Steam game experiment makes the developer drink a glass of water for each sale. It’s one of several odd publicity stunts rolled out by companies this month, such as McDonald’s 5G smartphone “announcement” and KFC’s electric car prank.
Developer Bmc Studio has put its new game, Each Sale I Drink a Glass of Water, in early access on Steam, vowing to drink a glass of water for every sale it gets. The developer will record a video of this and will add each video to the game. The game will be released on May 1 and will be in early access for a year. Bmc Studio also says that the water drinking will be done safely.
Bmc Studio has a history of releasing silly games like this. In 2019, the developer released a sort of Sonic the Hedgehog parody called Sanic The Hawtdawg and Real Life Battle Royal: It’s gonna be an… EPIC game which took on battle royale games. The developer’s games are largely ridiculous stunts that many reviews say could have just been YouTube videos.
There’s no suggestion that Each Sale I Drink a Glass of Water will be any different, but some will find the game funny and will enjoy seeing a developer test the limits of Steam’s early access system. Steam allows games like Mount and Blade 2: Bannerlord, but also games like this, and while that does allow for variety, many would criticize the store for allowing things like it to get through.
Each Sale I Drink a Glass of Water will be available on May 1, 2020, on PC.
