WePlay! has announced it will be hosting the CS:GO Summer Regional Major Ranking tournament for the CIS region via what they have dubbed “Clutch Island,” wherein participants will compete for a $50,000 prize pool.

Tournament Format

The tournament will run from June 16-28 and offer teams the second-largest amount of points winnable to contribute toward their regional major rankings (RMR). After competing in open and closed qualifiers, the top five teams will be invited to the main stage.

The main event itself starts with the Group Stage. Here, teams will play in two GSL-format groups, and four winning teams will go on to the Playoffs. The Playoffs will run on a classic Double Elimination system, wherein teams will only be able to lose twice before becoming disqualified.

Teams that didn’t make it through the Groups Stage will compete against each other for third- and fourth-place rankings.

Teams We Can Expect to See

The following five teams already received direct invites to compete on the main stage due to their rankings:

  • Hard Legion - 1,640 points Spirit - 1,600 points Virtus.pro - 1,520 points Winstrike - 1,500 points Nautus Vincere - 1,430 points

Meanwhile, these teams will compete through the open qualifiers, closed qualifiers, and then on to the main stage:

  • Nemiga - 1,200 points Syman - 1,100 points Gambit Youngsters - 950 points forZe - 750 points Espada - 750 points

Three more spots are still to be decided on June 8, 9, and 10, with three different sets of qualifiers having three teams each move on to the open qualifiers. Applications to compete were open to anyone and closed on June 1, so we may see familiar faces along with new ones.

Prize Pool

By the end of the tournament, the prize pool will be divided as follows:

  • 1st Place: $15,000 and 2,000 RMR points 2nd Place: $10,000 and 1,875 points 3rd Place: $6,000 and 1,750 points 4th Place: $5,000 and 1,625 points 5th Place: $4,500 and 1,500 points 6th Place: $3,500 and 1,350 points 7th Place: $3,000 and 1,250 points 8th Place: $3,000 and 1,125 points 9th Place: 1,000 points 10th Place: 875 points

The top five teams will go on to compete in the ESL One: Rio tournament, which will take place from November 19-22 this year. Because the May ESL One: Rio tournament was canceled due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the May Major’s prize pool will be added to the November Major’s, making the total prize pool $2,000,000. Fans who purchased and retained their tickets for the May event will be able to attend the tournament in November at no additional cost.
